The challenge

MBM, a quantity surveying and asset management consultancy, identified an opportunity to improve employee skills and engagement. Without a structured approach to learning and development, there was potential to further develop essential skills among employees.

MBM’s CEO saw the potential for a training program across the organisation, enhancing overall employee satisfaction and performance. Key areas for improvement included time management, leadership, conflict resolution, and communication skills. Addressing these gaps was crucial to reducing employee turnover, improving communication, and delivering top-quality outputs for clients.

Despite initial hurdles, such as employees occasionally missing scheduled training sessions due to urgent deliverables, the commitment to fostering a culture of continuous learning remained strong.

Our solution

MBM partnered with CCE to leverage our wide array of courses that effectively addressed both soft and hard skills. The main topics and skills covered in the training addressed a range of common business management topics, focusing mainly on building confidence at work, time management, and developing practical skills for team leaders and managers. All courses followed CCE’s standard course content. Most classes were delivered face-to-face at the CCE campus.

CCE's flexibility in scheduling allowed MBM to select training days and dates that fit seamlessly into their busy work schedules, a significant advantage given the internal challenges.

Courses

The outcome

MBM has observed promising outcomes from the training program. Employees have praised the courses, noting that they are transforming their perspectives and enhancing their work methods. The consistent application of new skills is a positive indicator of the program's effectiveness.

The Advanced Management Skills course received high praise from a director who attended. She plans to use team surveys to gain valuable insights and support her team more effectively, which has already boosted morale. The Time Management and Confidence at Work courses have also had a significant positive impact, making employees feel more comfortable in their roles and happier at work. Additionally, the Toolkits for New Managers course has equipped new managers with the confidence and skills they need to succeed.

Overall, the initial feedback and observed improvements suggest that the CCE training program has successfully addressed the skill gaps at MBM, contributing to higher employee engagement and productivity. The positive impact on morale and the consistent application of new skills highlight the long-term benefits and potential for continued success.
