The challenge

The Northern Territory Primary Health Network (NTPHN) sought to strengthen staff capabilities in Power BI to improve data analysis, enhance reporting quality, and support data-driven decision-making. Key priorities included standardising reporting practices, aligning them with best-practice principles, and reducing reliance on external support.

While some staff had experience with Power BI, skill levels varied. To address this, NTPHN pursued a training solution to close these gaps, build foundational and advanced skills, and enable staff to produce consistent, impactful reports independently.

After evaluating several options, NTPHN selected CCE for our reputation in delivering practical, industry-focused training. We offered tailored content and flexible online sessions, ensuring team members from different time zones could participate in an engaging and interactive learning environment.

Our solution

CCE delivered training from our comprehensive course range to meet NTPHN’s specific goals. The program included a mix of foundational and advanced sessions to address skill gaps and build technical proficiency.

The training program included Power BI Course: Level 1, which introduced participants to the basics of navigating and using the platform effectively, and Power BI Course: Level 2A, which focused on intermediate skills for more complex data analysis and reporting. A Power BI Course: Level 2B is also scheduled for next year to further advance participants’ technical capabilities.

Conducted online via Microsoft Teams, the training was designed to meet the needs of the business. Full-day sessions were scheduled in Northern Territory time, ensuring accessibility and convenience for all participants.

Each session featured interactive, hands-on exercises to encourage immediate application of new skills. Facilitators drew on their extensive industry experience to provide practical examples and insights, keeping participants engaged and focused throughout.

This engagement built on a strong relationship between NTPHN and CCE, with staff previously attending courses in Project Management, Minute Taking, Excel, and Lean Six Sigma. The decision to expand training to Power BI reflected NTPHN’s commitment to continuous improvement and professional growth.

The outcome

The training has had a positive effect for NTPHN. Staff reported increased confidence and proficiency, enabling them to produce high-quality, best-practice reports efficiently. This has streamlined decision-making processes and reduced reliance on external support.

Participants highlighted the practical relevance of the content and shared plans to incorporate new techniques into their reporting systems. The post-course survey reflected a strong sense of ownership and enthusiasm among staff to apply their new skills in day-to-day work.

As a testament to the program’s success, NTPHN has scheduled the next phase of training, demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional development. The training has reinforced the organisation’s dedication to investing in its staff, fostering a skilled and confident workforce ready to tackle future challenges.
