The challenge

Lendlease, a leading real estate and construction company, faced a challenge due to its vast and diverse employee base. It was crucial for the organisation to ensure that all employees not only understood the data they worked with but also had the ability to effectively communicate insights to inform stakeholders, customers, peers, and leaders. However, with such a broad range of roles and expertise within the company, it was challenging to assess the overall data capability of its workforce.

Recognising the importance of data interpretation and communication as critical 21st-century skills, Lendlease identified a knowledge gap in this area among its employees. To maintain its competitive edge and make data-driven decisions, the company sought a solution to address this issue through targeted training.

Our solution

To address the challenge and empower Lendlease's employees with data visualisation and storytelling skills, the Data Visualisation and Storytelling Course was specifically delivered to meet the needs of Lendlease's diverse employee base.

Recognising the varying expertise levels within Lendlease, CCE facilitator James Hall collaboratively engaged with the training participants to integrate their real-life cases and challenges into the program. The training sessions were highly interactive, featuring practical exercises allowing participants to work hands-on with real-world data relevant to their roles. The facilitator not only shared their expertise but also provided personalised guidance to ensure a deep understanding of the concepts covered.

The outcome

Lendlease has already witnessed the transformative impact of the Data Visualisation and Storytelling Course on its workforce. Employees have gained newfound confidence in communicating their data stories, with enhanced abilities to present and display data in visually compelling ways. This upskilling has facilitated more effective communication with stakeholders and enabled data-driven decision-making across the organisation.

Furthermore, the repeated delivery of the course to various cohorts within the organisation has cultivated a community of like-minded professionals who share a common language in data literacy and communication. This community continues to flourish, creating opportunities for continuous growth and collective learning.

“The program and the facilitator were just what the business needed. We have had such a great response to our initial session, that we have gone out to roll out many more sessions, and more in depth with specific teams in our organisation. I always hear back from participants what a great course it is and when is another one going to be scheduled”
