The challenge
Tracking the spread and treatment of chronic disease is something that’s increasingly possible thanks to technology. However, communicating the possibilities of these changes to stakeholders is something not all team members have skills in. Global healthcare company Novo Nordisk approached CCE to deliver professional development in Data Visualisation and Storytelling, helping their team learn how to share market data in more meaningful ways.

Our solution
CCE, in collaboration with our facilitator James Hall, began by determining the roles and skill-level of the staff attending. Most were responsible for managing customer engagement and management data, market data, and salesforce effectiveness. Working with their foundational knowledge of data analysis, the facilitator was able to deliver training that introduced the seven principles of data storytelling – regardless of the software being used – along with various other techniques.

View profileThe outcome
The Novo Nordisk team enjoyed an immersive day applying various data storytelling techniques to different settings, and interpreting, critiquing and refining various classroom examples. The group also benefited from the facilitator’s relaxed and open manner. Participants were encouraged to ask questions throughout the day, which he responded to in a clear, engaging style. Novo Nordisk’s team has developed more focus and confidence in their data storytelling since the training.
" Our staff had many lightbulb moments while attending this CCE course. One key takeaway was to take the time to think about the end user first, and what we are trying to achieve and trying to communicate. Only from this understanding could we identify the best ways to achieve our objectives. "
