Thai Course: Intermediate B2

Thai. Learn Thai with us.

Level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)

Continue to expand your knowledge of the language, put grammatical concepts into practice and develop your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. This course will introduce more complex language structures which will allow for expression of feelings and opinions, and facilitate the ability to hold an argument and to participate in a discussion.

Suitable for those who have completed Thai 404 or have undertaken three to four years of study, or 300 hours of recent face-to-face tuition.

By the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • consolidate and deepen your previous knowledge
  • practice and acquire new vocabulary and language structures which are useful in expressing your opinions, feelings and thoughts on various topics dealing with personal interests and lifestyle
  • be motivated to continue studying the Thai language and culture.

We will study intermediate grammatical structures and then use them in discussion and composition exercises.

Topics and exercises covered in this course include:

  • contemporary issues
  • a brief history of regions and their culture
  • news in brief
  • travelling around
  • exploring food in regional parts
  • preferences in art, music and film.

Intended audience

Suitable for B2 level students, those who have completed all levels of Thai up to 404 or who have completed 395 hours of recent face-to-face tuition.

Revise previous work covered in courses 101-404, watch films, read the news and books, and spend time talking to others. If you are unsure as to whether this is a suitable level for you given your prior studies, we recommend that you contact the Centre to discuss.
