If you want to learn to speak Thai, our Thai classes are ideal for adult learners to enjoy a practical and social experience while you learn Thai language and culture. Learn Thai the smart way with Thai courses at CCE, the University of Sydney.

Suitable for those who have completed 404 or have undertaken approximately three years of study or 300 hours or equivalent of recent face to face tuition and have mastered the basic grammatical and structures.

Aims

Consolidate and expand your knowledge of the language, put grammatical concepts into practice and develop your speaking and writing skills in a convivial and relaxed atmosphere. We will introduce more complex language structures which will allow for expression of feelings, opinions, facilitate the ability to hold an argument and to participate in a discussion.

Outcomes

  1. Consolidate and deepen their previous knowledge.
  2. Practise and acquire new vocabulary and language structures which are useful in expressing one’s opinions, feelings and thoughts on various topics dealing with personal interests and lifestyle.
  3. Be motivated to continue studying language and culture.

Content

We will study intermediate grammatical structures which students will then reuse in the class in discussion and composition exercises. Some topics and exercises responding to the group’s needs will be included.

  • Contemporary issues.
  • Brief history of regions and their culture.
  • News in brief.
  • Travelling around.
  • Exploring food in regional parts.
  • Your – preferences in art, music and film.
