Level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
This beginners Italian course follows on from Italian Course 101. It covers topics including likes and dislikes, describing places and making a hotel reservation. Grammatical development is emphasised through various speaking, listening and writing exercises.
Outcomes
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
- order food and drink at a café or restaurant
- make a restaurant reservation by telephone
- indicate food preferences
- describe a house
- describe hotel services
- review a hotel
- ask for assistance at a hotel.

- Present tense: modal verbs dovere, potere and volere

- Introduction to adjectives, noun-adjective agreement, prepositions of place
Intended audience
Suitable for A1 level students, those who have completed Italian 101, or 20 hours of recent tuition.
Delivery style
Delivered as a series of interactive workshops where active participation is encouraged.

Either of the above textbooks can be used in class. However the instructions, descriptions and grammar rules in the newest 2023 edition (ISBN 9788861828094) are in English.
Based on Units 3-4 of the above text. The text is used for levels 101 to 201, and forms the basis for consolidation and practice. It is based on language learning through conversation method.
