Antonella Beconi

Antonella Beconi

Antonella was born in Tuscany, Italy, in a beach town close to Pisa and Lucca. She is a professional Italian and German lecturer, both disciplines she holds master’s degrees in. Antonella has taught both subjects in universities and schools around the world, including the University of Sydney, where she is also currently doing a PhD in Italian Studies.

She has designed and delivered language courses, coordinated and supported strategic projects, and collaborated and liaised with multiple organisations and stakeholders. Most recently, Antonella was the author of the article Connecting language students with the work environment: 'Made in Italy: Italian at work' (2018), and in 2020, she was the recipient of the University of Sydney’s Dean’s Citation for Excellence in Tutorials.

Antonella is creative, and always looking for new ways of doing things relevant to curricula based-courses, particularly for adult learning. Her teaching philosophy is a lifelong curiosity and a craving for change and improvement. Antonella’s teaching method aims to foster enthusiasm and wellbeing alongside knowledge to students. She also loves meeting new people, and parties!

We acknowledge the tradition of custodianship and law of the Country on which the University of Sydney campuses stand. We pay our respects to those who have cared and continue to care for the Country.
