Level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)

Join our intermediate French conversation course and practice confidently expressing yourself in a range of contexts. This course is designed for all students who have reached a B1 level of study (from the Common European Framework for Languages).

In this course we will discuss everyday life and activities, leisure, travel, work-related situations and current events.


This course aims to improve and develop your spoken French and comprehension skills.


By the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • communicate in a more independent way
  • express yourself in a variety of ways (role play, presentation, expressing an opinion)
  • demonstrate an improved understanding of French dialogue
  • analyse and discuss videos and articles
  • use appropriate vocabulary studied during the topics covered
  • describe and demonstrate an improved understanding of French culture.


This course focuses on encouraging you to communicate freely and to improve your understanding of the French language using written texts, dialogue, videos and vocabulary lists in an immersive and interactive way.

This course covers the following topics:

  • everyday situations
  • gastronomy
  • travel
  • cultural activities
  • workplace situations
  • past and currents events.

Intended audience

Suitable for B1 level students.

Delivery style

Interactive and informal immersion in French.


There is no prescribed text for this course.

Selected courses that teach spoken language may include use of language immersion (course instruction in the selected language) as part of the training strategy.
