Julien Pollack

Associate Professor Julien Pollack started working in project management in the Australian public sector delivering organizational change projects, where he completed an Action Research Ph.D. This research won national and international awards. Following this, he managed telecommunications and heavy engineering projects, before taking an academic position in 2011 to teach project management. He joined the University of Sydney in 2016. His research has focused on two broad themes: trends in project management research; and developing project management practice to meet the needs of projects that cannot be pre-defined in simple and stable terms. He has successively drawn on systems thinking, complexity theory, and change management to address this latter area of research, particularly focusing on the delivery of organisational change projects. His research in these areas has been frequently published in the leading project management journals and research conferences.Cesare Popoli

Cesare was born in Naples, Italy. He graduated from the University of Naples in 1985 with a degree in Modern Languages, majoring in Spanish language and literature. In 1988 he migrated to Sydney, where he has been teaching Spanish and Italian at both secondary and tertiary level. He was a tutor at the Italian Institute of Culture for many years, teaching all levels and all ages. He also taught Italian to undergraduates at UTS and UNE for a few years. He currently holds a full time position as a senior Spanish teacher at Open High School. He has a passion for teaching and learning languages; he is fluent in five languages (Italian, English, Spanish, French and Portuguese) and is still trying to learn German to this day. His main passion outside work is soccer; he is a long time supporter of AS Roma. He is heavily involved in club soccer as he has several children playing for the local soccer club.Alexandra Portelli

Alexandra Portelli is a Primary Teacher/Librarian at Scots College. Prior to this Alexandra was a classroom teacher at a variety of Independent Schools in Sydney. She has over 10 years experience and has been accredited by the Independent Schools Teacher Accreditation Authority (ISTAA) at an experienced teacher level. Her passion in the field of anatomy comes from the influence of her family who are all Chiropractors. Alexandra adopts the inquiry based learning approach similar to that of the Reggio Emilia Philosophy. Maria Posse

Maria Posse studied Literature and Art (BA) at Universidad de los Andes in Bogota, Colombia in 1996. She obtained her MFA in Film, Video and New media from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2001. For the past ten years, she has been an artist and teacher and has taught many courses on media at several universities in Colombia. Maria’s video works and video installations have been screened in International Video, Film Festivals and art exhibitions. Her Video production work involves creative workshops as part of the methodology and her research subjects include Ecology and aesthetics of the marginal. Julian Poulter has an honours degree in Manufacturing Management and has spent most of his career in management consultancy, dealing with large multi-national organisations in areas of business transformation. He has held CEO roles in three companies and has always been fascinated by the ideas of the leading business thinkers and their effect on real companies.
Julian has lectured and presented extensively on many business topics including business strategy, strategic marketing, change management, risk management and project management.
Hannah Power

Hannah’s research interests are in the field of coastal geomorphology and processes, specifically looking at wave breaking and transformation in the surf zone and swash zone hydrodynamics. She is a member of the geocoastal group and is also a keen fieldworker. At present she is looking at wave height evolution in the surf zone and the transformation of wave height over reefs.
Hannah completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney and her PhD at the University of Queensland. Her PhD investigated nearshore wave height transformation in unsaturated surf zones as well as asymmetry in the swash zone.
Alex Pozniak

Award winning composer Alex Pozniak (b. 1982) completed his Masters in Musical Composition at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, with the assistance of a UPA scholarship and under the guidance of Matthew Hindson. Working with composers Anne Boyd, Nicholas Routley and Ian Shanahan during his undergraduate years at the University of Sydney (beginning in 2000), Alex went on to obtain First Class Honours and the University Medal in 2005. Alex completed a BA alongside his music studies in which he studied philosophy, psychology, art history and theory, while majoring in English literature. He has had works performed by the Ku-ring-gai Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bourbaki Ensemble, the Sydney Symphony Fellows, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Kammer, The Song Company, the Arditti Quartet, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble L’Arsenale (Italy), Besides Ensemble (Belgium) and has attended two AYO National Music Camp composition programs, working with Graeme Koehne and Joby Talbot.
In 2009 Alex was named composer-in-residence for the 2009 Verge Arts Festival at the University of Sydney during which he staged his first composer portrait concert, INFOCUS, presented by Chronology Arts, featuring eight works of both chamber and electronic music drawn from 2005-09. In 2010 Alex had three works performed in the ISCM World New Music Days in Sydney as well as performances at the Brisbane Encounters Festival, Beijing Modern Music Festival, Adelaide Soundstream Festival, Melbourne International Brass Festival and Sydney Fringe Festival. Alex was the winner of the prestigious 2011 APRA Professional Development Award in the Classical category with which he travelled to the United States and Europe in 2012 to pursue studies in composition, including workshops in Boston, Italy, Darmstadt and Latvia.
Alex a co-director of Sydney-based Chronology Arts which he co-founded with Andrew Batt-Rawden in 2007 in order to produce concerts featuring new works by emerging Australian composers. Chronology Arts was voted one of the top 100 Creative Catalysts in 2009 in the Creative Sydney arm of the inaugural Vivid Sydney Festival. Alex is a passionate educator, lecturing in composition at the University of Sydney’s Music Department and The Sydney Conservatorium of Music, teaching composition at the Conservatorium High School, The Scots College, St Ignatius Riverview and The McDonald College as well as guest lecturing for pre-concert talks. As an advocate for Sydney’s new music scene, he is a committee member of the New Music Network and was previously on the Aurora Festival’s Artistic Committee and the board of the Fellowship of Australian Composers.
