Level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)

Join our intermediate Spanish conversation course and improve your verbal Spanish language skills in a fun and engaging environment.

Activities focus on verbal and listening skills, role playing and simulated conversations, and conversing skills for conducting everyday activities. You will practice conversing, expressing your opinion and discussing your point of view.

Supporting learning materials include TV news extracts, radio and press releases.


This course aims to reinforce verbal skills and confidence in speaking Spanish and to facilitate your transition to B2 intermediate level language study.


By the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • express your point of view in Spanish
  • improve your listening skills and understanding of spoken Spanish
  • respond to verbal communication (when travelling or for business purposes)
  • respond to questions in Spanish
  • improve your vocabulary
  • describe events, situations, facts and feelings using past, present, or future tense.


This course covers the following topics:

  • diverse everyday life and travelling scenarios
  • current affairs/news/opinions: analysis and feedback
  • films, books and cultural events: description, presentation, and review
  • individual presentations on a chosen topic, discussion and feedback.

Intended audience

Suitable if you are a B1 level Spanish language student wanting to revise and consolidate your beginner’s comprehension of the Spanish language and communication skills.


Before enrolling, you should have completed all elementary courses (A2) in Spanish or completed 300 hours of prior learning.

Delivery style



Supporting and supplementary learning materials are provided in class. Please bring a notebook and pen.

Please note

Selected courses that teach spoken language may include use of language immersion (course instruction in the selected language) as part of the training strategy.
