Level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
This beginner’s course aims to provide students with the ability to understand and use familiar Spanish expressions and basic phrases in order to satisfy simple daily needs. Grammatical themes will complement the acquired vocabulary and provide a framework for further verbal and non-verbal skills development. No prior knowledge of the language is required.
Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Exchange basic greetings in Spanish.
- Introduce themselves and others.
- Ask and answer questions about personal details such as their name, nationality, occupation, etc.
Content
This course covers the following topics:
- Greetings: personal information
- Verb ser
- Gender: feminine/masculine
- Introducing someone: occupation, nationality, age
- Introducing your family: adjectives – demonstrative and possessive
- The alphabet and numbers 0-100
- Determinate articles. Verbs estar and tener
- Finding things outdoors: places and transport
Intended Audience
Suitable for beginner A1 level students. No prior knowledge of the language is required.
Delivery Style
This course is delivered as a series of classroom-based workshops which include group activities and group discussion. Parts of the course will be conducted in Spanish as part of the overall training strategy.
