Juan Carlos Barreno Galloso


Juan Carlos is an experienced language teacher. He has been teaching languages (Spanish and French) for almost three decades now. He started teaching Spanish in Stuttgart, Germany, in 1989. He has been a tutor with the University of Sydney’s Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) since 2012. On behalf of the Jesuit University Antonio Ruiz de Montoya of Lima, he has translated several philosophy texts from French into Spanish.

Aside from teaching Spanish, Juan Carlos has also been a staff member of the Bureau de Coopération Linguistique of the French Embassy in Peru, and as such, he worked organising and teaching specialised French language courses (for professionals of the natural sciences, medicine and hospital management). He also taught French and translation courses (French to Spanish) at the Universidad César Vallejo and the Alliance Franςaise, both in Lima, Peru.

He holds a Master of Science (Universität Hohenheim, Germany), an MBA (Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola, Peru), has taken courses on French Pedagogy (Alliance Française and Université Stendhal of Grenoble), has completed a course of Linguistics (University of Leiden, Holland) and is currently studying a Master of Applied Linguistics (University of New England, Australia). On two occasions he has participated at the finals of La Dictée des Amériques (a French spelling competition in Canada).

Juan Carlos is passionate about languages. Aside from English and native Spanish, he speaks fluent French, German, Italian and Portuguese and has studied Russian, Greek and Japanese. He enjoys writing in Spanish and is the author of Universo Verde y Estrellas Perfumadas, a collection of Spanish poems (Published by Edit. Arkabas, Lima, 2014).
