French Course 201 (Level 5)

If you want to learn to speak French, our French classes are ideal for adult learners to enjoy a practical and social experience while you learn French language and culture. Learn French the smart way with French courses at CCE, the University of Sydney.

The first level in the second year program. Suitable for those who have completed all levels up to 104 or who have completed 95 hours of recent face to face tuition. It will advance your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills through a range of new topics and grammatical structures.


This course covers the following topics:

  • Announcing a family event/react to an announcement
  • Asking for and giving information about someone’s health
  • Calling/answering the phone
  • Speaking about your relatives
  • Understanding statistics
  • Speaking about the past
  • Understanding biographical facts
  • Describing a person physically
  • Asking questions
  • The pronominal verbs: present and past
  • Immediate past and near future
  • Passé composé


This course is delivered as a series of interactive workshops where active participation is encouraged.
