Level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
The first level of the second year program, this course focuses on more complex structures of syntax to enhance text production, vocabulary and speech. Suitable for those who have completed all levels up of Brazilian Portuguese up to 104 or 95 hours of recent face-to-face tuition.
Outcomes
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
- describe places
- talk about tourism activities and making travel plans
- express wishes and hypotheses.
Content
This course covers the following topics:
- review of past tense and Imperfect (Indicative)
- tourism in Brazil & touristic activities (Impersonal verbs usage) – to talk about possibilities and make plans
- direct and indirect discourse usage
- voices: active, passive and reflexive
- prepositions
- conjunctions
- sufix – word formation
- idiomatic expressions
- introduction to subjunctive mode and usage
- introduction to brazilian movies/documentaries and/or soap operas
Intended audience
Suitable for B1 level students, those who have completed all levels of Brazilian Portuguese up to 104 or those who have completed 95 hours of recent face-to-face tuition.
Delivery style
Delivered as a series of interactive workshops where active participation is encouraged.
