Perfect your digital time management skills with this one-day course covering the most useful functions in Microsoft OneNote and Outlook.

As Microsoft products and Outlook 365 become pervasive across businesses, so too does the need to effectively manage functions within this software.

In this course, you will learn to organise your projects and to generate and share notes, meeting minutes, photos and ideas. You will also learn important functions, including: collaborating on and assisting colleagues with tasks, emails, contact groups, meeting appointments and more.

Aims

This course aims to develop your skills in using Microsoft OneNote’s and Microsoft Outlook’s main functions. As a result, you will improve your digital time management skills and work more effectively within your team.

Outcomes

By the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • create, format, share, and collaborate on notes and notebooks within OneNote
  • create and use Quick Notes
  • create and work with tags and search in OneNote
  • work with the security features in OneNote
  • work with the Outlook integration features in OneNote
  • create and send email messages efficiently
  • create and use rules for managing your email messages
  • organise and prioritise work using message flags, reminders, colour categories and mail folders
  • use the search facilities to locate messages and other Outlook items
  • schedule appointments and meetings and work with shared calendars
  • create, monitor and manage contacts and groups within Outlook
  • create and work with tasks and task requests.

Intended audience

Suitable for those who have little or no understanding, knowledge of, or experience in using OneNote or Outlook who would like to improve their digital time management skills.

Specifically, this course is suitable for clerical and administration staff, support staff and their managers, business owners and entrepreneurs.

Prerequisites

You should be familiar with the basic functions of a computer operating system. If you do not have these skills, we recommend attending Basic Computer Skills Course and Effective Internet Use before attempting this course.

Delivery style

Delivery options:

  • Presenter-taught computer-based training in a Microsoft Windows environment. You will have dedicated access to a computer so you can follow the instructor and work through in-class activities.
  • Online training via the platform Zoom.

Materials

You will be provided with a link to access and download your own personalised eBook prior to class.

Additional information

Face-to-face classes

These classes run in a computer lab and you do not need to bring your own device.

Please bring a USB flash drive to class if you would like to make a copy of your work or any relevant class materials. Alternatively, you can save these to a cloud storage space or email them to your personal email address.

Online classes

If you are attending an online class, you will need your own device.
