Nahla El Ghazawi

Originally from Cairo, Egypt Nahla El Ghazawi graduated from Ainshams Univerisity with a PhD in Arts (Languages and Literature), a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts. Nahla is the Deputy Principal of the Sydney Campus of the Australian International Academy. She is currently the head of the Arabic Department within the primary sector. Furthermore, she is a member of the Australian Council of Women Affairs (ACWA) and a volunteer broadcaster on the Radio Voice of Peace which focuses on social and welfare issues within the community.

Benjamin James Elton

Rabbi Dr Benjamin Elton has been Chief Minister of The Great Synagogue since 2015. Born in Manchester, England, Rabbi Elton was educated at the Universities of Cambridge (MA) and London (PhD). He worked in the Ministry of Justice in London and then studied at Yeshivat Chovevei Torah (YCT) in New York. He received Semicha from YCT in June 2015, and in addition has Semicha from Rabbi Chaim Rapoport of London and Rabbi Natan Greenberg of Bat Ayin in Israel.

In addition to Benjamin’s 2014 book, Britain’s Chief Rabbis and the Religious Character of Anglo-Jewry, 1880–1970, he has authored several articles on Anglo and Australian Jewish history. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society of London, an Honorary Associate at the University of Sydney, and Orthodox Rabbinic Consultant to the Executive Council of Australian Jewry. Ben is married to Hinda Young, and they have a daughter, Lizzie.

Nicholas Enright

Nicholas was born in Australia, but has lived abroad extensively. In 2018 he returned to Sydney after a ten-year stint in Germany’s bustling and exciting capital Berlin. He is a professional German teacher, holding a master’s degree in German literature obtained at the Freie Universität Berlin. Nicholas teaches German at the University of New South Wales and the University of Sydney, where he is also currently doing a PhD in Germanic Studies. He has designed and delivered language courses and is passionate about fostering creativity and achieving optimal results for his students.

Sabine Erlenwein-Wuenstel

Having completed undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Europe, and as a native speaker, Sabine has a passion to see students become proficient in German. She has taught German to adults for both general and corporate contexts and to HSC and IB students. She has a range of experience in offering effective differentiation in pedagogy, preparing students for exams and an ability to use educational data to inform improvement in teaching and learning. In addition to her work with the University of Sydney’s Centre for Continuing Education, Sabine works collaboratively with other language schools and both High school and primary school students in order to effectively improve spoken and written communicative skills in German.

Sabine loves teaching German to students of all levels and encourages learning in a fun, relaxed and interactive classroom setting. With her extensive experience, she has an excellent understanding of students' needs as they learn a new language.

Veronica Espin-Diaz

Veronica brings a diverse academic background and a true passion for teaching English as a second language, with expertise in linguistics, education, and translation. As a native Spanish speaker who is fluent in English, Veronica understands the challenges of learning a new language and the nuances and intricacies of English.

Veronica holds a BA (Honours) in English Philology (Linguistics), a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and a Masters in Advanced Language Studies (Spanish/ English). She completed the Cambridge CELTA (B) in 2018.

Having worked for several years in the UK, Veronica honed her skills while teaching and developing programs and materials for international students. She has also worked in Business and Marketing for over 10 years and provided extensive professional training to multicultural teams.

In recent years, Veronica has been developing programs and teaching both domestic and international students at a wide variety of institutions including Southern Cross University, The Hotel School and MIT Institute.

Her commitment to teaching both domestic and international students underscores her ability to connect with learners from diverse backgrounds and foster an inclusive and dynamic learning environment.

Felicity Evans

Ke Fan

Ke Fan is a Chinese language teacher who has a Bachelor of Arts in English Education from Shandong Normal University in China, a BADipEd (Bachelor of Arts with the Diploma of Education ) from Macquarie University and a Master of TESOL from UTS. Ke has many years of teaching experience in colleges in China and in public and private schools in Australia. He is currently teaching Chinese beginners and background speakers courses at a DET high school. He has good understanding of both Chinese and Australian cultures and is passionate about teaching Chinese language to different levels of learners.

Tahere Fanaeian-Sangsari

Mary Fanaeian studied a Bachelor of Science (Mathematics)/Master of Education at UOW. She is currently teaching in UNSW and previously worked at TAFE NSW, teaching HSC courses and Tertiary Preparation courses, as well as the Maths and calculus subjects of Diploma of Mechanical Engineering. She has also tutored at Western Sydney University.

Yu Fang

Yu Fang has extensive international teaching experience which includes previous postings with the Confucius Institutes at Ricardo Palma Universidad, Lima, Peru (2016–18), Stockholm University, Sweden (2015), and Auckland University, NZ (2012). Her classes are described as open and inclusive, where participants are encouraged to apply what they have learnt to real-world situations.

Yu graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, from Zhengzhou University; she also gained a Master of Arts in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, from Fudan University. Yu has been a full-time Chinese language teacher at Fudan University, Shanghai, since 2015, and is currently on secondment at the University of Sydney Confucius Institute.
