Level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)

This course aims to consolidate and develop students' knowledge previously gained, as well as introduce more complex Spanish language structures which will allow for expression of feelings and opinions. Suitable for those who have completed all levels of Spanish up to 204 or who have completed 195 hours of recent face-to-face tuition.


Upon successful completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  1. Follow orders and give advice.
  2. Describe touristic places.
  3. Write a speech.


This course covers the following topics:

  • Taking and leaving phone messages
  • Transmitting a message
  • Discussing cause and consequence
  • Discussing travel
  • Expressing interests and sentiments
  • How to express disagreement

Intended Audience

Suitable for continuing B1 level students, those who have completed all levels of Spanish up to 204 or who have completed 195 hours of recent face-to-face tuition.

Delivery Style

This course is delivered as a series of classroom-based workshops which include group activities and group discussion. Parts of the course will be conducted in Spanish as part of the overall training strategy.

Based on Units 7-9 of the above text, plus revision. The text is used for activities and forms the basis for consolidation and practice.
