Anita O'Connell

Anita O’Connell has a B.Sc. (Hons) from the University of New South Wales and a Ph.D. from the University of Sydney, specialising in molecular biology and biochemical genetics. This was followed by research positions at the University of California Irvine, Rockefeller University in New York City, and the Heart Research Institute in Sydney. For the next several years she concentrated on looking after her two young children, while living in several different countries and working part-time in administrative roles outside of science. After returning to Australia, she resumed working in biological science, and also developed a new interest in high school science education, completing a Graduate Diploma of Education in 2005. She has continued teaching science in schools and universities, and has developed in-depth high school biology courses. She is a member of the ANZFSS, the Australian and New Zealand Forensic Science Society.Erin O'Dwyer

Dr Erin O’Dwyer is an experienced communications leader and educator.
In more than 25 years as a journalist, Erin has worked across print, digital, broadcast and publishing media. Her writing has appeared in publications as diverse as The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age, Good Weekend, The Saturday Paper, The Guardian, Australian Geographic, Marie Claire and Vogue. She has been a producer for the ABC, an editor for SBS, and her audio documentaries have been broadcast on ABC’s Radio National. She has been recognised three times in the Australian UN Media Peace Awards for her social issues journalism, and she is a Walkley Awards finalist.
Erin has held senior management roles and led teams including at the ABC and in corporate and non-profit settings. Her broad strategic and tactical experience includes corporate communications, crisis communications, social media management, policy, partnerships, governance, government relations and community engagement.
A small business owner, Erin leads a small team at her communications consultancy. Her team are story consultants, media and communications strategists, and writing and editing specialists. Their specialty is helping brands and businesses tell their stories.Â
Erin is a passionate mentor and teacher, and has two decades’ experience lecturing in journalism, narrative non-fiction and media law at universities including the University of Sydney, UTS, UNSW and QUT. Erin holds a PhD (UTS), and a BA in Media Studies (UQ). She is also a qualified lawyer, with an LLB (Hons) and a GDLP (ANU). She is admitted to practice law in the Supreme Court of NSW. She has served on a number of non-profit Boards.
Erin believes teaching and mentoring is one of the best ways of learning.
Anthony O'Grady

Anthony O’Grady is one of the few outstanding Australian rock writers left standing. After editing Honi Soit at Sydney University he was an advertising copywriter then founded the influential Rock Australia Magazine (RAM) in 1975. Anthony has won the award for Rock Journalist of the Year, coordinated an AFI winning soundtrack, toured with Roxy Music as their media representative and made music specials for ABC Radio and commercial radio. He has written music, sport and human interest articles for newspapers and magazines produced by Fairfax, ACP and News Limited. In 2001 Allen & Unwin published his account of the Cold Chisel’s reformation, The Pure Stuff. Anthony is currently completing a history of Australian rock – Set Fire to the Town – for Murdoch Books. Dr Pamela O’Neill holds a PhD and an MA in Celtic Studies from the University of Sydney and a BA from Macquarie University. She has published widely on topics including early medieval material culture, landscape archaeology, legal and ecclesiastical history of the British Isles. She is series editor for the Sydney Series in Celtic Studies, president and journal editor of the Australian Early Medieval Association, a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, an Honorary Associate of the School of Letters, Art and Media at the University of Sydney and an Honorary Fellow of the School of Historical Studies at the University of Melbourne.Thomas O'Neill

Maureen O’Shaughnessy holds a Masters of Creative Writing from UTS, completed in 2012. Previous work has been published in Best Australian Essays, Island, Blue Dog, Wet Ink, Best Music Writing under the Australian Sun, Australian Poetry Journal, Hide Your Fires, Rock Country, Artsrush and Swamp. Poems have been short-listed for several poetry prizes, among them the Bruce Dawe Poetry Prize and the Blake Poetry Prize: her poem, Thursday, July 15 was awarded the Gwen Harwood Poetry Prize (2010). Her first novel, Lakeland, (Ginninderra Press) a hybrid of verse and prose, was published in 2015. A verse novella, The Truth about A. was published in May 2017.
