Level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)

This course aims to consolidate and develop knowledge previously gained, as well as introduce more complex Spanish language structures which will allow for expression of feelings and opinions. Suitable for those who have completed all levels of Spanish up to 504 or who have completed 495 hours of recent face-to-face tuition.

Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  1. Deliver a speech about a specific product or service.
  2. Read and analyse news on the web.
  3. Deliver a speech on the topic of politics.

Content

This course covers the following topics:

  • Discussing verbs and linguistic resources in order to make a complaint
  • Organising vocabulary about services
  • Revision of the conditional mode
  • Use of para and para que.

Intended Audience

Suitable for beginning C1 level students, those who have completed all levels of Spanish up to 504 or who have completed 495 hours of recent face-to-face tuition.

Delivery Style

This course is delivered as a series of classroom-based workshops which include group activities and group discussion. Parts of the course will be conducted in Spanish as part of the overall training strategy.

Prescribed Text

C de C1, Curso de Español de Nivel Superior by Rosana Acquaroni, José Amenós, Virginia Gonzáles, Pedro Gras, Josefina Simkievich, Carmen Soriano e Iñaqui Tarrés. (Editorial Difusión, España, 2017).

This Spanish course is based on Units 3- 4 of the above text. The text is used for class activities and forms the basis for consolidation and practice between meetings.
