This training and assessment course teaches practical skills to assist you in the development of short courses and team training sessions that will make a positive difference in achieving desired training outcomes. You’ll learn how to determine what training is required and how to structure and sequence learning material to meet the needs of the participants and the organisation. You’ll also develop an understanding of how people learn, different modes of delivery, how to capture and retain attention, and how to successfully facilitate a group to achieve maximum learning. Finally, you will learn how to develop informal assessment strategies that will enable you to measure a learner’s competence.

This training and assessment course will be especially helpful for managers, team leaders, employees and trainers, and insightful for anyone interested in training design.

Aims

This course aims to provide the knowledge and skills required to design, facilitate and assess successful learning programs to ensure that individuals and teams are capable of meeting organisational objectives.

Outcomes

By the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • incorporate adult learning principles into program design and delivery of training
  • design and contextualise training programs that address different learner’s needs
  • write measurable and meaningful learning outcomes and associated assessment criteria
  • sequence training content to enhance learning and skill acquisition
  • utilise learning resources to enhance learning
  • incorporate effective facilitation strategies and tips into your training delivery
  • identify assessment principles to measure learner progress and competence.

Intended audience

This program is suitable for anyone who wants to design, facilitate and assess successful training programs. This applies to organisational training but also to any situation where a learner or group of learners needs to acquire new skills, knowledge and behaviours.

None

Delivery style

Delivered as a one-day interactive workshop which covers adult education theories and practical application of these theories to produce successful learning and development. You will be encouraged to share your ideas and background to broaden class discussions.

Delivery options:

  • Face-to-face workshop delivered on University premises.
  • Online workshop via the platform Zoom.
