Chinese Mandarin Course 3012: Standard (HSK Level 4 Preparation 2)

Chinese. Learn Chinese with us.

If you want to learn to speak Chinese, our Chinese classes are ideal for adult learners to enjoy a practical and social experience while you learn Chinese language and culture. Learn Chinese the smart way with Chinese courses at CCE, the University of Sydney.

In partnership with the Confucius Institute
Offered in association with the Confucius Institute at the University of Sydney. The Confucius Institute is based on a partnership with Fudan University, in collaboration with the Office of The Chinese Language Council International in China (Hanban). It is managed by the the Office of Global Engagement. The first to be established in New South Wales, the Institute has attracted thousands of people to its popular Chinese language and culture programs.

Designed for enthusiastic learners. Continuing the preceding work, which focused on day to day conversations, this will introduce learners to short essays involving comparatively abstract ideas, critical thinking and self-reflection. The content entails people’s social-cultural beliefs regarding the relationship between life and nature, and measures to promote physical and psychological well-being.

From this level, equivalence between learning and Proficiency Test, namely Hànyǔ Shuǐpíng Kǎoshì (HSK, Chinese: 汉语水平考试), is favourably considered. The learning materials will integrate language content and HSK testing formats so students can have a heightened awareness of their proficiency. The students are also encouraged and should be confident in taking the HSK Level 4 exam after completing all advanced levels.

  • To continue to develop and integrate students' language skills at an advanced level through various class learning activities.
  • To be able to think and express abstract ideas and to be aware of general philosophy of life.
  • To be ready for HSK Level 4 language proficiency examinations.

  2. From time to time the class teacher may assign homework to students. The students should try and do it as diligently as possible to enhance the learning results.
  3. Depending on the time available, the teacher may implement a small assessment in the last week. Students should not fret about the assessment but consider it as a good opportunity for review.
