Fayrouz Fares holds a BA in English language and Literature from the Lebanese University as well as a Diploma of Teaching from the Teachers Training College in Lebanon. She worked as a professor in the Lebanese University as well as a LOTE Coordinator at the International College in Lebanon. She had an extensive teaching experience at the American Language Centre too. In Australia, she worked as an Ethnic Aid in Bankstown Senior College and as an Arabic teacher in Punchbowl Public School. Dr Sergey Fedoseev graduated from the Russian University of Peoples Friendship (Moscow, Russia) in 1978 with two Certificates: MS in Physics and French-Russian Translator and Interpreter. He then lectured Physics (in French) in Western Africa for one year and gained his first PhD in Physics at the Institute of Applied Physics at Moldavian Academy of Science in Moldova in 1985. In parallel with his research activity in semiconductor physics, Dr Sergey acted as a casual Translator and Interpreter (English-Russian and French-Russian) at the Moldavian Chamber of Commerce (Kishinev, Moldova).

In 1995 he was invited as a Visiting Expert in Thailand. He lectured physics and telecom related subjects at the Assumption University of Thailand (Bangkok). He also acted as a part-time instructor of Russian Language at Tammasat University (Bangkok).

In 2008 Dr Sergey migrated to Australia. He gained his second PhD in Physics at the University of Wollongong (2014).

Katia Fedoseeva was born in Russia and has recently migrated to Australia with her husband to join their son living in Sydney. Vladimir Feldman currently teaches Extra Curricular Chess Classes at The Scots College and in a number of Eastern Suburbs Independent and Public Schools. An International Chess Master with over 30 years experience in chess tutoring, Vladimir has a university degree in Chess Coaching from Moscow Sports University. In 2005 Vladimir completed the Professional Accreditation as an FIDE Trainer by the International Chess Federation. As a player Vladimir’s best result was winning the Oceania Championship and representing Australia in World Chess Championship in Las Vegas in 1999.

Dr Rita Ferraro has designed, developed and delivered academic courses, with a specialisation in Spanish language, for the University of Sydney (USYD) and the University of New South Wales (UNSW), since 2002. She also introduced Brazilian Portuguese language courses to University of Sydney’s Centre for Continuing Education in 2004, which meant it was the first Australian institution to offer Brazilian Portuguese courses for adults.

Dr Ferraro has written and published a series of bi-lingual Portuguese language tuition books and in 2020, she published a book chapter that explores second language acquisition, noting the various challenges native English-speakers face in applying implicit and explicit knowledge to their language learning. Dr Ferraro is an accomplished academic author, course tutor, lecturer, and convenor, with outstanding reviews from her many students.

Dr Ferraro earned a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Portuguese and Spanish from Fluminense Federal University (UFF), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1996 and a PhD in Portuguese and Spanish contrastive linguistics from University of Cadiz (UCA), Spain, in 2005. She also attained various certificates such as CERT IV TAE, IELTS, ISLPR, TESOL and others.

Dr Ferraro’s interests are in advancing language learning, particularly in Portuguese and Spanish, with an expanding interest in exploring and documenting the attributes that constitute ‘best practice’ teaching methods and methodologies.

Judith has been working as biostatistician in Sydney Nursing School, now known as the Susan Wakil School of Nursing and Midwifery, for 24 years. She has been using SPSS for over 35 years.

Judith has a Bachelor of Arts majoring in statistics and a Bachelor of Teaching. Her main role is to provide statistical guidance and advice to staff and students across all aspects of their research, from conceptualisation through to publication.

In addition, Judith presents intensive lectures in statistics for epidemiology and clinical trial research. She is passionate about statistics as a language anyone can learn, and her goal is to make statistics accessible to everyone who needs to use them.

Michael Field is Emeritus Professor at the University of Sydney, having recently retired after 26 years as an academic and clinician in the Faculty of Medicine (Sydney Medical School). He has a research background in kidney physiology, and extensive clinical experience as a consultant physician in general medicine and nephrology (kidney disease and hypertension). He trained and worked at most of the teaching hospitals associated with the University, most recently as Associate Dean and Head of the Northern Clinical School based at Royal North Shore Hospital. He has received numerous teaching awards, including an Excellence in Teaching award from the University of Sydney. Michael Field has also been active in medical education, including as a leader of curriculum change in developing the graduate-intake medical course now offered at Sydney, and as a consultant to medical schools in Asia and Europe. From 2004-2010 he was Chair of the Medical School Accreditation Committee of the Australian Medical Council.
