Dr Rita Ferraro holds a PhD in Portuguese and Spanish Contrastive Linguistics (University of Cádiz, Spain) and a Bachelor of Arts (Hon) in Portuguese and Spanish Languages and Literature (Fluminense Federal University, Brazil). Rita’s experience includes teaching Spanish and Portuguese at University of Sydney (USYD), University of Western Sydney (UWS) and University of New South Wales (UNSW), in addition to providing private consultancy to AFP (Australian Federal Police), Qantas, IOC (International Olympic Committee), COB (Brazilian Olympic Committee) and Microsoft Corporation, where she supervised the creation of online Brazilian and European Portuguese dictionaries, including Windows Vista. Since 2004, Dr Ferraro has led the development of Portuguese language tuition at the Centre for Continuing Education, University of Sydney and continues to make a significant contribution to the Portuguese speaking community. Dr Ferraro’s latest book, Brazilian Portuguese – Beginner 1 has been widely acclaimed as a leading text in its field.
