Meredith Makeham

Professor Meredith Makeham is the Associate Dean for Community and Primary Health Care with the Faculty of Medicine and Health at The University of Sydney. She is responsible for their Community and Primary Health Care strategy, which recognises the better use of digital health technology as a key pillar of Primary Health Care reform.

Meredith’s academic interests include Patient Safety in Primary Care and Aged Care, and she was previously awarded the Health Informatics Society of Australia’s Don Walker Effectiveness Award for her research into medication discrepancies between residential aged care facilities and general practice digital health systems. She is a general practitioner in Sydney and former recipient of the College Medal of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. She has held numerous advisory roles for government, including the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care, and was formerly the Chief Medical Adviser for the Australian Digital Health Agency. She has a strong interest in applications of Australia’s national digital health infrastructure, including My Health Record and other systems that promote better connected care and empowering people with access to their own health information.

Mandy Makhlouf

Mandy has eight years experience in adult education. She has designed, delivered and assessed nationally recognised training in different industries and on a range of subjects. Mandy is currently working as a Project Lead- Performance & Networks within the Talent and Organisational Development at the Department of Justice. Mandy holds a Bachelor of Business “Business Management”, a Master in Interpreting and Translation and a Diploma in Training and Assessment. She is currently working towards a Graduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education.

Mandy is an accredited NAATI Arabic interpreter and translator and has worked as an interpreter for more than ten years. She is currently a contracted translator with Western Sydney Local Health District- Translation Service.

Over the past 14 years Mandy taught the Arabic language in a community language school (2 years) and privately to adults as well as primary and high school students.

Phil Mannocchio has taught Business Studies, Economics, Geography, Legal Studies and Commerce at high schools for 14 years, and is currently the Coordinator of Social Science at Moriah College. He has been invited by the NSW Board of Studies to be part of the Consultative Team for the new Business Studies to be introduced in 2011 and was part of the Consultative Team for the current Stage 5 Commerce Syllabus in 2004. Phil was also the Business Studies convenor for the Association of Independent Schools from 2001 – 2005. Phil has been a lecturer for ‘EdAssist’ & ‘The School for Excellence’ Winter & Summer School Programmes at Sydney University to Yr 12 Business Studies students. He has been an HSC Business Studies marker for 9 years and a member of the Advice Line for 7 years. In 2009, Phil become a Director for the Economics & Business Educators Association of NSW, writing articles for their journal and assisting in organising professional development for Economics, Business Studies and Commerce teachers. In addition to this wealth of experience in teaching, Phil has owned and run a café allowing practical experience to aid his motivation of students in the classroom when teaching Economics, Business Studies and Commerce.

Claudine Mansour

Born and raised in Lebanon, Claudine completed her HSC in philosophy and obtained a Bachelor in Social Work and Honours degree in Counselling. Having made the decision to move to Sydney provided Claudine the opportunity to grow and develop both her personal and professional life. Claudine has completed many local teaching programs to reinforce her teaching skills. She has taught Arabic in different schools: Canberra Language School, St Joseph’s Arabic School/Croydon, as well as running private tutoring classes in French and Arabic languages. She joined the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies team and the Centre for Continuing Education at Sydney University in 2009.
