Level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)

This course focuses on topics such as leisure, films and holiday planning. It will also further your ability to express emotions and feelings. More complex grammatical structures and vocabulary will be introduced in order to expand language skills. It aims to consolidate and improve upon your knowledge gained in previous courses in relation to the development of speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.


By the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • present a film and discuss it’s director
  • give your appreciation about a movie
  • encourage the practice of leisure activities
  • talk about leisurely activities
  • select a tourist service
  • book a holiday
  • get information for a travel itinary
  • consider the future
  • makes wishes and suggestions.


This course covers the following topics:

  • the place of adjectives
  • the place of adverbs (temps composés)
  • personal pronouns after à et de
  • COI pronouns (revision)
  • indirect pronouns y et en
  • le gérondif
  • place pronouns y et en
  • express wish (souhaiter que + subjonctif ; espérer que + indicatif…)
  • make a suggestion (conditionnel présent)
  • vocabulary for topics
    • cinema and awards
    • leisure
    • leisure associations
    • tourism and booking
    • music
    • wishes
    • Internet forums
  • phonetic: pronunciation of the sound -r, intonation of enthusiasm, deception and encouragement, nasal vowels.

Intended audience

Suitable for A2 level students, those who have completed all levels of French up to 302 or those who have completed 245 hours of recent face-to-face tuition.

Delivery style

Delivered as a series of interactive workshops where active participation is encouraged. Each session is conducted in a friendly and relaxed classroom setting.
