Stephen Palmer

Stephen Palmer has been a presenter in classical Latin, from beginners to advanced levels, at the University of Sydney’s Centre for Continuing Education since 2009. He has a lifelong interest in classical languages, ancient and modern history, and is a passionate believer in the worth of classical studies in education. His interest in classics began during senior school in the 1970s, when he studied five years of Latin and three years of ancient Greek. After establishing his career in accounting and financial services, Stephen returned to classical studies in Latin through continuing education courses offered by the University of Sydney.
Stephen subsequently completed his major in classical languages (Latin and Greek) in the Bachelor of Arts program at University of New England, where he was awarded the J. Hanna Classics Prize in 2005 and the Bishop Doody Memorial Gold Medal in 2007. His academic studies have covered a wide range of classical authors, with major works of study in Caesar, Catullus, Cicero, Livy, Lucian, Ovid, Pliny the Younger, Sallust, Seneca and Tacitus. Stephen enjoys all aspects of classical studies, and has particular interests in placing classical literature in its historical and archaeological context, studying monumental inscriptions, and the application of later Latin to genealogy and other historical research.
Stuart Palmer

Stuart has been preparing Year 12 students for HSC Examinations since 1986. He taught mathematics in four NSW schools and was head of department in two of those schools. He has also conducted many HSC study sessions all over NSW.
Stuart holds a mathematics degree from Macquarie University. He has also completed a Graduate Diploma in Education at the University of Canberra.
Stuart worked for five years as Project Officer for the Mathematical Association of NSW. He frequently runs professional learning workshops for teachers all over NSW. He is also the lead author of the textbook series for Years 7 to 10 called CambridgeMATHS.
Stuart is passionate about making mathematics meaningful and memorable for students.
Laurel Papworth

Having obtained a teaching diploma and engaged in studies at the University of Rome, Rosalba Paris began her career as a language teacher. After receiving her honours degree from the University of Rome Vittoria Pasquini spent a number of years doing postgraduate research in Sociology before completing her Dip.Ed and beginning her teaching career. Since moving to Australia, Vittoria completed a Graduate Diploma in Modern Language Teaching at the University of Sydney, has taught Italian language and culture at the Australian National University, the Australian Catholic University and is currently teaching at the University of Sydney and for the Centre for Continuing Education.Benedetto Passaretti

Growing up in Sardinia, an island where the Italian language coexists with Sardinian and various minority languages, Benedetto has always appreciated the richness inherent in multilingualism. He holds a B.A. and M.A. in Modern Languages and Literatures from the University of Udine, specialising in the literature and linguistics of English and German speaking countries. He is currently completing a Ph.D. in Australian Literature at the University of Sydney.
Benedetto has been teaching Italian since 2014, as a private tutor, an intern at the University of Sydney and a teacher at the Italian Cultural Institute in Sydney. As a keen language learner himself, Benedetto is aware of the challenges and invaluable rewards that come with the discovery of a new language. The rules, sounds and the untranslatable meanings each one manages to convey. Benedetto likes to create a friendly and stimulating environment in his classes, making the experience of learning a language interactive and playful.

Robert Pastorelli is the convener of Italian courses for the Centre for Continuing Education. His studies in Italian language and literature culminated in an MA (Hons) degree from the University of Sydney. Robert has taught for the Centre for Continuing Education since 1986.Vishakha Patel

Vishakha is a Lean Thinker and Agile Evangelist passionate about helping people, teams and organisations optimise their value streams by ‘removing waste’. Her style is to coach by listening, challenging, and positively disrupting. She is currently associated with the University of Sydney to help ICT product teams through their Agile Transformation journey, and closely works with Scrum Masters to effectively facilitate PI Planning for several initiatives and guiding teams, Product Owners and Stakeholders through the Program Execution.
On completion of her SAFe® Program Consultant (SPC 5.1) accreditation, she avails an active license to train and certify others as SAFe® Agilists, SAFe® Product Owners, SAFe® Scrum Masters, SAFe® Release Train Engineers etc., and appreciates the experience of offering SAFe® public trainings.
Vishakha holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology, as well as the following Agile certifications:

In her previous role, Vishakha received the “Leadership Excellence Award” from the Sydney Trains CEO, where she helped Enterprise Data Warehouse & Business Intelligence teams adopt Agile ways of working and commenced Scrum delivery at Digital Mobility & Automation the first time ever at Sydney Trains. She has also been a proud member of Covid-19 Taskforce at Transport for NSW, to enable rapid delivery of visualisations on a digital app to aid leaders make decisions around social distancing rules in NSW. She also received an “On The Spot Award” for effectively conducting Agile Training for 80+ client associates. She has been active in the field of Information Technology for 17+ yrs now – with experience working across product companies, service organisations, digital start-ups, the Government, and banks including Citi, RBS, Westpac & HSBC.
