Dr. Daniele de Jesus graduated from Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) in Brazil with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Economic Science. Following this, she completed a Master degree in urban and Regional Planning at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro and a PhD in Economics at UFF, where she is a Lecturer level C at the School of Administration and Accounting.

Daniele is a qualified Lecturer of Administration with 10 years of experience, teaching both in undergraduate and postgraduate programs, both face to face and distance learning. Relevant experience in leading research groups, project team, advising students as well as a solid experience in consulting at large and small organizations and in evaluating and coordinating projects for governments and non government organisations.

Mark de Vitis is a doctoral candidate at the University of Sydney working on theories of identity and representation in the Early Modern period. Other research interests include the genre of portraiture in the Western tradition, and costume, dress and the body. In 2010 in addition to his work with the University Preparation Course, he will teach at the National Art School and in the Department of Art History and Film Studies at the University of Sydney.

Susan Deas is a professional musician, lecturer and teacher. As well as lecturing at the University of Sydney, Susan has lectured for groups including Musica Viva, Pacific Opera, Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, the Willoughby Symphony and others. Susan also performs as a professional pianist and organist, and teaches piano and music theory. She has a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Music, a Master of Music Studies, and an A.Mus.A in Musicianship, and is an Accredited Member of the Music Teachers’ Association of New South Wales. Susan has been teaching with the Centre for Continuing Education since 1998.

Yvette Debergue has recently completed her PhD at the University of Sydney on the topic of Gender and Medieval Heresy. She has taught for the Centre for Medieval Studies and the Departments of History and Studies in Religion, with her specialty being Christianity and Heresy in the Middle Ages. She has presented papers at conferences in Australia, North America and Europe, and is published in journals in Australia and Europe.

Art historian Oscar del Pozo is an expert on the art and culture of Spain from 12th-century retablos (a structure forming the back of an altar, especially a frame enclosing painted panels) to Pablo Picasso.

Claire deLacey and Steven Chamberlain operate their own environmental consultancy and have conducted extensive flora and vegetation surveys over a wide geographic range across much of Australia. They have extensive experience in the practical application of plant identification and the application of formal methods of vegetation surveys, vegetation community delineation and vegetation mapping. Claire and Steve have also designed and delivered educational seminars, presentations and training packages to a range of clients and audiences including the UNSW, and for WIRES.

Both have an extensive background of practical training in horticulture, plant identification, botany, soils and landscaping, along with qualifications in arboriculture and geographic information systems (GIS), all derived from many years of study at TAFE and University. They are members of a range of professional organisations and panels, as well as conservation organisations such as the Australian Native Orchid Society, Royal Zoological Society and the National Parks Association and wildlife care organisations. They are also authors or co-authors of scientific papers published in respected journals including the Royal Botanic Gardens journal of plant ecology in eastern Australia (Cunninghamia) and the journal of the Royal Zoological Society of NSW.

Deb Delaney graduated with a BSc.(hons) in Physiology from the University of Leeds, in the UK. She then opted for a post-graduate qualification in Education which led her to where she is now. Combining biology, physiology and PDHPE with education was winner and Deb has been teaching high school students since 1999. Her first 5 years of teaching were spent in Bristol, UK before moving to Sydney in 2004. She have been teaching HSC classes here ever since. Deb has also been lucky enough to be involved in HSC marking which has given her an invaluable insight into the way in which the Board of Studies ‘thinks’ with regards to HSC questions and how they are answered. The HSC can be daunting to many students, but with the right tools, she believes those elusive marks are obtainable. Deb’s aim as a teacher is to provide these tools, as well as developing as much passion for the subject in her students as she has.
