Anne von Fehrn

Anne is an experienced teacher whose passion lies in delivering languages to students of all ages and backgrounds. She first began teaching German at the Goethe Institute in Sydney, and her role included the facilitation of classes, one-on-on tutoring and the delivery of business courses to international companies. Anne’s experience has also included a support role teaching German at a selective high school, volunteering at a Primary School in Ghana, and at present, as a primary school teacher.

Mandy is an IT professional with over 30 years of experience in delivering transformational technology training services across a broad range of industries. Her expertise lies in curriculum development and the design and delivery of Microsoft Office training solutions.

She has an established record in managing technical change projects in ICT infrastructure roles and has a proven track history of achieving outstanding results in the transformation training change space within the legal, financial, and education industries and for private and public sector clients.

Mandy designs training solutions in collaboration with her clients using a detailed training needs analysis to determine the training specifications and delivery outcomes required for the professional development of technical and general staff.

Michael Wall has been an editor and proofreader for over 16 years. Beginning in legal publishing, he went on to work in educational and general publishing before going freelance in 1999. He has edited hundreds of publications – fiction and nonfiction, government reports, corporate promotional brochures, student guides, instructional manuals, academic journals, websites and even comics. Michael has a BA in English Literature and a Postgraduate Diploma in Editing and Publishing.

Audrey Wang

Dr. Audrey P. Wang is Senior Lecturer in Digital Health, School of Medical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of Sydney and Co-Program Director, Masters in Digital Health and Data Science, University of Sydney.

Co-located at the Innovation Centre, Westmead Precinct and Charles Perkins Centre, Camperdown, she conducts digital health research in the intersection between academia and clinical partnerships, aiming to improve equity in health outcomes. Recent projects range from COVID-19 eGate Health Screening IoT System to hospital associated complications projects.

She is Evaluation Chair on a multi-agency Proactive Sepsis Pilot involving the Ministry of Health, Clinical Excellence Commission, eHealth NSW, NSW Pathology and Western Sydney Local Health District. She is a registered physiotherapist in the UK, New Zealand and Australia with specialisms in geriatrics and pain management (APA Titled).

Cheng-Wei Wang

Cheng-Wei has gathered broad experience teaching Chinese in tertiary institutions. He holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics from UNSW, specialising in the field of Second Language Acquisition. He also possesses a Master’s degree in Cognitive Psychology from the U.S.

Cheng-Wei’s dynamic and engaging teaching style is based on his training and ardent belief in communicative language learning. He embraces state of the art technology within teaching practices and integrates learning materials into communicative tasks. He is sensitive to learners' zones of proximal development and alters his speaking and teaching style accordingly. His students are therefore able to strengthen their language competence and to keep motivated to continue the learning of Chinese in the long run.

Li Wang

Li obtained a research doctorate in Chinese Studies and Pedagogy and a Master degree majoring in Applied Linguistics from CDU before 2003. She has been engaged in teaching and research in Chinese Culture, Language, Literature and Intercultural Language Education in CDU, USYD and UTS since 1998. She has previously lectured for a Special English Program in International Business and Financial Management for the Higher Education of the People’s Bank of China (PBC) for 15 years. Li has been holding an Associate Professor position in Economic English in China since 1994 and is currently a guest professor in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages for Shanghai University. She worked for the Australian Government as an interpreter, a translator and a liaison member for major joint international projects with China during early stages. Li is a member of the Australian Association for Literary Translation.

With extensive teaching experiences in Australia and China, Li has innovatively applied the cognitive approaches, the experiential approaches and the cognitive-experiential-mixed approaches in teaching Chinese culture and language to adult/tertiary learners in Australia. She has been awarded a scholarship with grants for her research project in teaching Chinese from Language Australia for more than two years. In her Chinese teaching she has paid attention to accommodate the different needs and interests of learners including first language learners, second language learners and Chinese background language learners. In the last seven years Li has taught learners from the beginners' level up to the advanced level. Li coordinated the Advanced Chinese program for the Faculty of Arts and Social Science in 2009 and she has successfully delivered over 40 Mandarin programs for CCE, USYD until now.

Li has been publishing academic books and research articles since 1987. In recent years she has published academic books on Chinese Culture, Culture Pedagogy, and Chinese Literature in Australia, Germany and Mainland China. One of her sole-authored books has been collected by the National Library of Australia. By 1996 Li had published together with her colleagues an English-Chinese Dictionary in Economy and English textbooks in Economic Management.

Linna Wang

As a person loving teaching, I completed my Bachelor Degree of Education in Beijing in 1997. After that I practised teaching in a selective school in Beijing for about 4 years.

In February 2002, I came to Sydney, Australia and have been teaching Mandarin since then. For personal growth, I also studied Diploma in Education and Master of Education with the University of New South Wales.

Active and easy-going, I enjoy meeting people of different backgrounds and who are interested in China and its splendid culture. Teaching a range of levels, such as beginner, intermediate or advanced, I tailor my teaching materials, vary teaching strategies and scaffold my students to reach their different learning goals. From time to time, I take my students to restaurant or shops to practise their Mandarin.

I believe teaching is one the most rewarding and enjoyable jobs, especially when I see my students can benefit from China’s magnificent cultural and linguistic resources.
