Seraphina Martin

Resume

Seraphina Martin studied printmaking at the National Art School in Paris before moving to Sydney 30 years ago, to teach at the Sydney University Art Workshop, where she continues to teach today. Seraphina was the recipient of the Moya Dyring Studio at the Cite des Arts in Paris in 1988. There, she studied the Viscosity colour printing method at the Atelier 17 under notorious master printer William Hayter. Since 1994 she has been developing non toxic technology called Solar Plate etching in her own art practise. Seraphina has had many solo and group exhibitions of her work in Australia and Overseas. In 2005 she was invited as artist in residence and as a mentor to students, at the Canberra school of Art, Canberra.

In 2009, she was invited to be a Delegate for Australia, to select 6 Australian printmakers to participate in the International Printmaking Biennale in Sarcelles, France.

She regularly teaches printmaking at Meadowbank Tafe, Hornsby Tafe, and Penrith Tafe. She has been invited to teach Solar Plate workshops at both Hazelhurst Regional Gallery, Gimea and Gosford Regional Gallery, Gosford. She often teaches summer schools at Camp Creative in Bellingen and Sturt workshops in Mittagong. Most recently she was invited to teach solar plate etching to 8 artists at the Spiral Gallery Artist Co-op in Bega N.S.W, under a Regional Arts Grant in association with Bega Regional Gallery, Bega and Megalo print Studio, Canberra.

Seraphina Martin’s work is represented in many public and private collections in Australia and Overseas.

Silvia Martinez Jimeno

Resume

Silvia is an experienced and qualified language expert. She has been teaching foreign languages, both Spanish and French, for more than 5 years at Condor Spanish Academy and WEA College in Sydney. Silvia started her career in Poland and Reunion Island working at several centres with children and teenagers. She has also worked as a professional translator and tour guide, both roles which deepened her knowledge and passion for foreign languages and cultures.

Silvia holds a degree in Translation and Interpreting (in Spanish and French) and completed a Teacher Training Course at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid. Most recently, she received accreditation from Instituto Cervantes as a Spanish DELE examiner and from Alliance Française as a qualified teacher of French as a Foreign Language (DAEFLE). Silvia’s love of teaching is the result of years of work experience and continuing education.

Isolde Martyn

Isolde Martyn is best known for her historical novels.Her debut novel, set in the Wars of the Roses, won major awards in America and Australia.She was also the main researcher for the ‘Places’ section of the Bicentenary volume ‘Events and Places’. Her other hat is editing and she was a senior editor with an international publisher before taking up writing full-time. A former Chairperson of the Sydney Branch of the Richard III Society, she is also co-founder and Vice-chair of the Plantagenet Society of Australia.

Christiane Marvillet

Born in France, Dr Christiane Marvillet studied at the University of New South Wales in Sydney where she obtained a First Class Honours Bachelor of Arts in Methods of Translation and a Doctorate of Philosophy in History. She has extensive experience teaching French language and culture. She taught in the UNSW School of French and the School of Spanish and Latin American Studies until 1995 and has been working on a part-time basis in the Department of French Studies of the University of Sydney since 1994. Dr Marvillet has been teaching French language and culture for the Centre since 1989 and in addition has worked as a conference simultaneous interpreter. She is NAATI accredited and presently works as a freelance translator. She has also organised and led language study tours to New Caledonia and cultural tours to France.

Sia Mastro

Sia holds a Bachelor of Music (Music Education) from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music at the University of Sydney and is a senior classroom music teacher at a leading private school in Sydney. Sia holds primary and secondary teaching qualifications and has collaborated with colleges in the development of the college academic music program, whilst also being involved as a HSC trail examiner and adjudicator with affiliated neighbouring colleges. More recently Sia has completed a Graduate Diploma of Counselling at the Australian College of Applied Psychology, secured a Positive Psychology Certification whilst also commencing her Masters of Counselling.

Siham Matar

Born in Lebanon, Siham Matar (MA Ed (USYD), BS (AUB), Grad Dip Ed (UNSW), Cert IV Training & Assessment (Management Consultancy International)) studied at the American University of Beirut where she obtained a Bachelor Degree in Medical Sciences. She worked as a Pathology Scientist in Lebanon and as a Pathology Scientific Officer at Mayne’s Pathology Laboratories, Sydney. She is a member of the Medical Association of Australian Scientists. After finishing her Diploma of Education and Masters Degree in Leadership in Education, Siham has worked as a Science and Arabic Language Educator at the primary, secondary, tertiary and adult education levels. Siham is currently the LOTE Coordinator at Holy Saviour School, an Arabic tutor at CCE, University of Sydney and a Science Sessional Lecturer at ACU, Sydney.

Shannon Matchett

Shannon Matchett is a solicitor with the ODPP, currently practising in Wagga Wagga. Previously, he prosecuted in Parramatta and the Sydney West Trial Courts. Shannon graduated from the University of New England in 2018 while employed as a researcher in criminology, focusing on family law and judicial interpretations of the ‘best interests of the child’. His major research interest is how psychology and the law intersect. He has previously presented CPD seminars on extra-curial punishment and tribal punishments. He is currently working on a presentation on assessing demeanour/body language, and the perils of armchair psychology in the jury room.

Christopher Matthew

Christopher Matthew is a well respected experimental archaeologist and authority on ancient warfare. The author of several books and journals articles on the subject, Christopher is a lecturer of ancient history at the Australian Catholic University.
