Leita Hutchings
Resume
Born in Brisbane Australia; I can’t remember not painting or drawing.
I was given a scholarship to study Graphic Design at the School Of Visual Art when I was 19.
Following graduation, I became immersed in the teaching of drawing, painting and illustration skills to tertiary aged students, of both Australian and international origins. I taught continuously for over 20 years, and the imparting knowledge and seeing new artistic results, still remains a great pleasure for me.
I’m driven by a passion to paint, and produce artwork on a continuous basis. I work in pencil, graphite, oil pastel, watercolor, gouache, oil paint, and also produce assemblages using mixed medias.
Producing artworks puts me in a zone where the senses blend and time looses both relevance and context, and is why I named my first solo exhibition BLEND.
I’m very proud to have artworks in collections currently in England, New Zealand, South Africa, the USA, and Australia.
