Level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)

This course aims to consolidate and develop your knowledge, and speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, further to those gained in previous courses. More complex grammatical structures will be introduced in order to improve all essential language skills.

Outcomes

By the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • use appropriate vocabulary in the context of nature and the environment
  • talk about environmental issues and concerns
  • read and discuss complex texts about the environment
  • present a short oral presentation about an environmental topic
  • use the covered grammar topics (passive voice/prepositions) more confidently and correctly.

Content

This course covers the following topic area:

Nature and the environment

  • are one-person households causing environmental issues (grammar: passive voice, passive used with module verbs)
  • animal protection (grammar: two-way prepositions)
  • environmental protection projects (grammar: prepositions and their cases – accusative/dative/genitive)
  • how valuable is water (focus: speaking skill – oral presentations).

Intended Audience

Suitable for B1 level students, those who have completed all levels of German up to 501 or those who have completed 420 hours of recent face-to-face tuition.

Delivery Style

Delivered as a series of interactive sessions where active participation is encouraged. Each session is conducted in a friendly and relaxed classroom setting.

Based on Unit 10 as well as revision of previous chapters (6-9) of the prescribed text. The text is used for activities and forms the basis for consolidation and practice.
