Level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)


The aim of this course is to consolidate and improve knowledge through the development of speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, further to those gained in previous courses. More complex grammatical structures will be introduced in order to improve all essential language skills.


Based on two units from the prescribed text focusing on subject areas that are very popular with students: relationships and reading.

In Unit 7, participants will learn about the nature of relationships between two people, past and present. We will explore the topic through film, visual arts, and a classic novel by J.W.v.Goethe, called Wahlverwandtschaften.

In Unit 8, participants will learn about literature (fiction and non-fiction), contemporary and classic writers and their readers. We will explore people’s reading preferences, literary projects, and the pros and cons of e-readers. Participants will have the opportunity to write their own short-stories.

Intended Audience

Suitable for B2 level students, those who have completed all levels of German up to 501 or those who have completed 420 hours of recent face-to-face tuition.

Delivery Style

The course is delivered as a series of interactive sessions where active participation is encouraged. Each session is conducted in a friendly and relaxed classroom setting.
