Level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)

Suitable for those who have completed all levels up to 303 or who have completed 270 hours of recent face to face tuition.

Content

The course aims to improve students' ability to communicate on a variety of subjects related to the topic of Accomodation & Home. These include:

  • City versus country: where people live and where they want to live
  • At home: what do we need to feel at home?
  • Without a home: causes & possible solutions
  • Unusual and unique hotels
  • Hotel Mum & Dad: adult children living with their parents – reasons & challenges

Students will extend their vocabulary on those topics as well as acquire new grammar structures in activities, discussions and role-plays. They will gain confidence in expressing their own views and ideas and discuss and comment on social problems and conflicts related to the above mentioned topics. Additional material such as literary texts, magazine or newspaper articles and audio or audiovisual material will be utilised according to the ability of the class.

Suitable for B1 level students, those who have completed all levels of German up to 303 or those who have completed 270 hours of recent face-to-face tuition.

Delivery Style

The course is delivered as a series of interactive sessions where active participation is encouraged. Each session is conducted in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Based on Unit 2 of the above text and the corresponding exercise chapter. The text is used for activities and forms the basis for consolidation and practice.

Note: Students will be required to purchase this exact version – Volume 1 of the textbook (Chapters 1-5 including exercise material). This textbook is also available as a full version (Chapters 1-10) without the “Arbeitsbuch” (exercise book).
