Stefan is an experienced data science leader with a background in statistics, econometrics and applied machine learning. He has a strong track record of delivering data-driven solutions in complex commercial environments. His work spans retail, finance and digital platforms. He has led teams tackling problems such as optimisation, customer relevance and segmentation, experimentation, and large-scale reporting and insights systems.  

More recently, he has been involved in building AI applications that support retail decision-making, with a focus on reliability, evaluation and practical impact. 

He has a Bachelor of Commerce with a double major in Economics and Mathematics/Statistics with First Class Honours in Econometric Theory. His honours research focused on instrumental-variable estimation and the consequences of invalid instruments, shaping a long-standing interest in causal reasoning.  

Across his career, Stefan has combined this theoretical grounding with hands-on delivery. He is particularly passionate about mentoring, clear communication, and transparency in analytics.
