Jessamine Chen

Dr Jessamine Chen is a registered Clinical Psychologist and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Centre for Emotional Health, Department of Psychology, Macquarie University. Previously, Jessamine was the Head of the WSLHD Anxiety Treatment and Research Unit, Westmead Hospital. Her current research focuses on psychological interventions for older adults. She is currently the coordinator of a NHMRC clinical trial study on improving mental health and social participation outcomes in older adults with anxiety and depression.
In addition to her PhD research which investigated appraisal bias under uncertainty in generalised anxiety disorder (GAD), Jessamine has been involved in a number of clinical research projects, including a prospective study examining the long-term effectiveness of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for adult anxiety disorders in an outpatient setting. Clinically, Jessamine has specialised in the treatment of anxiety and related disorders in children, adolescents, and adults for over 10 years. She has had extensive clinical experience in private and public sectors, including delivery of stepped-cared treatment for adults in a public health outpatient setting.
Jessamine has been involved in the training and supervision of provisional psychologists since 2008. She has also been an invited lecturer at a number of universities in Sydney.
