Dr Michael Abrahams-Sprod is Roth Foundation Lecturer in Israel, Jewish Civilisation and Holocaust Studies in the Department of Hebrew, Biblical and Jewish Studies at The University of Sydney. Michael is an historian, linguist, author and an educator with over 27 years experience in secondary, tertiary and adult education. Michael has held both educational and professional leadership positions in the Australian Jewish community and has taught the Melton program and its graduate program since 2001. Michael’s key academic research interests include: German-speaking Jewry under Nazism; German-Jewish history; The Holocaust; the history of European Jewry; the history of Zionism; the history of the state of Israel; and the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict. The recipient of numerous local and international awards and scholarships, Michael has also published widely on German-Jewish history and has presented papers, conducted research, lectured and taught both locally and internationally.
