Richard Tan

Richard Tan is a web designer/developer, digital media designer and an award winning IT professional. He has produced work for companies like Lion Nathan, Colonial First State, Qantas and Cisco. Richard has taught digital media and IT subjects for over 20 years, and at The University of Sydney since 2001. He is ITIL V3 certified and also holds a Cert IV in Workplace Assessment and Training.

Having programmed in languages as diverse as Perl, ActionScript, Java, C#.NET and JavaScript, Richard can recommend PHP as the easiest programming language to start with. It is for this reason that he has continued to teach his PHP and MySQL courses for over 16 years at the University of Sydney’s Centre for Continuing Education.

Originally from Sydney, Richard now resides on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland. Although he has created online, distance and blended courses for many organisations, his passion for face-to-face teaching sees him fly back to Sydney to continue teaching the courses that he and his students love.

We acknowledge the tradition of custodianship and law of the Country on which the University of Sydney campuses stand. We pay our respects to those who have cared and continue to care for the Country.
