Maria Lorenzo Fernandez

Maria started tutoring English speakers when she started her degree in Journalism, Media & Communications in Sevilla, Spain. The majority of her students came from Ivy League Universities in the United States and went to Sevilla to have a bilingual experience. Her cross-cultural awareness and expertise began to develop earlier when she was awarded with a scholarship to study English at Oxford and continued throughout her first years at University when she completed part of her degree at Cardiff University, in Wales. Maria loves Linguistics and Grammar. One of her main priorities is to explain concepts in a fun way, not only through theory but with practical activities in class.

Maria is passionate about the Spanish language, the culture, the food and the amazing places you get to explore by speaking this language. There is no class where she does not tell you a story or a bad joke you can use to keep on learning or memorising new vocabulary. Maria is also a certified translator by NAATI and is used to translating English into Spanish. She finished her first degree at the University of Sydney and completed her double Masters in Translation, Interpreting and International Relations at Macquarie University together with her Global Leadership Program practicum.

We acknowledge the tradition of custodianship and law of the Country on which the University of Sydney campuses stand. We pay our respects to those who have cared and continue to care for the Country.
