Professional Development Program (PDP)

University staff are eligible to enrol into selected CCE courses through the Workforce Development Professional Development Program.

Eligibility criteria

The purpose of the PDP is to:

  • develop capability consistent with the University’s strategy and direction
  • provide a framework of recommended courses in a variety of capability areas and increase consistency in offerings across the University
  • encourage staff to reflect on their career development and future next steps with their managers
  • provide cross-university networking opportunities for participants
  • encourage and support participants to work with their supervisors to apply and embed learning.

Eligibility criteria

To access the Professional Development Fund central allocation for a PDP listed course, you must comply with all of the following eligibility criteria.

  • Be a professional staff member employed under the auspices of the Enterprise Agreement.

  • Have been employed at the University for 12 months or more (continuous service).

  • Want to attend a course listed on the Professional Development Program.

  • Have your manager’s approval.

      This involves having a discussion with your manager about the following things:

    • your career and development goals – identifying what capabilities need to be developed to help you achieve these goals
    • how the chosen training relates to your next step career development and aligns with the needs of the University
    • how the learning will be applied, embedded and supported by your manager on the job then including the course and follow up activities in your PPD/PMD plan (remember, this can be updated at any time).
