B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)

This intermediate-level Japanese course is suitable for those who have completed all levels of Japanese up to 502, or 445 hours of tuition.

Outcomes

By the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • discuss geographic features of Japan and it’s places of interest
  • ask a question/s about something that has been said
  • talk about Japanese styles of speech
  • vary the level of politeness in your tone when speaking, depending on who you are speaking with
  • make an apology in Japanese
  • read and write short sentences that include vocabulary, using approximately 620 Kanji.

  • Old tales

Japanese styles of speech

  • Politeness levels in the speech
  • Differences between male and female speech
  • The omission of sentence endings and contracted forms of words

  • Sending an email

Intended audience

Suitable for B1 level participants, those who have completed all levels of Japanese up to 502, or those who have completed 445 hours of recent tuition.

Delivery style

Delivered as a series of interactive workshops where active participation is encouraged.

Based on Chapters 1 and 2 of the above text. The text is used for activities and forms the basis for consolidation and practice.
