Level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)

This course aims to consolidate and improve knowledge through development of speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, further to those gained in previous courses. This course focuses on topics such as housing and reporting on local events. More complex grammatical structures and vocabulary will be introduced in order to expand your language skills.


By the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • understand a comparative study
  • talk about your home
  • report and witness an event
  • participate in a forum
  • understand press titles
  • give your opinion on a program
  • understand a story – report a local event.


This course covers the following topics:

  • the superlative
  • ce qui, ce que, c’est to highlight
  • interrogative pronouns
  • possessive pronouns
  • si + imparfait to suggest, to incite
  • nominalisation
  • gender of nouns
  • c’est… qui, c’est … que to highlight
  • past tenses
  • past participle and COD (direct object)
  • vocabulary for topics
    • place of life
    • blogs
    • media
    • gambling
    • superstition
    • report of theft
  • phonetic: pronunciation of superlative, question/surprise intonation.

Intended audience

Suitable for A2 level students, those who have completed all levels of French up to 301 or those who have completed 220 hours of recent face-to-face tuition.

Delivery style

Delivered as a series of interactive workshops where active participation is encouraged. Each session is conducted in a friendly and relaxed classroom setting.
