Join us for the second course in our entrepreneurship series* and learn tactics to take your new business idea to market.

This course largely focuses on building a Business Model Canvas; a template for articulating your business’s or product’s value proposition, infrastructure, customers and finances. You will analyse and test your Business Model Canvas, and learn about the importance of the iterative process.

*You do not need to enrol in all three courses in the entrepreneurship series and are invited to enrol in standalone courses.


This course aims to equip you with an understanding of tools and tactics needed to launch a new business.


By the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • describe the Business Model Canvas
  • develop a Business Model Canvas to encapsulate your new business idea
  • validate the appropriate business model for your new business idea
  • identify the potential critical points of failure within your Business Model Canvas
  • develop appropriate tests to validate each component of the Business Model Canvas
  • describe the function, purpose of iterative testing
  • pursue launching a new business.

Creating your own Business Model Canvas

  • How do you create one for your business?
  • Learn to articulate your businesses or product’s value proposition, infrastructure, customers and finances

Review your Business Model Canvas

  • Peer review and discussion
  • Feedback and refining your Business Model Canvas

Testing and validating the assumptions in your Business Model Canvas

  • Identify assumptions within your Business Model Canvas
  • Identify critical points of failure
  • Design tests to validate assumptions in your model
  • Refining your model with results from testing
  • The importance of testing and the iterative process (design, test, refine, repeat)

Intended Audience

Suitable for students who have previously completed the first course in our entrepreneurship series Business Ideation, however it can also be taken as a standalone course given a passionate student.

Delivery Style

Delivered by PowerPoint presentation and supported by visual and auditory methods. During the course, you will be taken through a step-by-step process of how to build and launch a new business. This process will be enhanced by the inclusion of practical real-world activities.


Prior to attending, you should have a business idea in mind and understand the basics of validations.
