Access to the internet and mobile digital devices enable new forms of social harm, criminal behaviour and challenges to policing and regulation. The ease with which images and information can be shared anonymously means that hate networks, terrorist and extremist organisations can expand, child abuse materials and intimate images can be disseminated, and illicit substances and weapons can be bought and sold.
This webinar will provide an overview of:
- new forms of harmful or criminal behaviour on the open web and darknet;
- relevant legislative provisions including Crimes Act 1900 (NSW), Crimes (Domestic and Personal Violence) Act 2007 (NSW); Commonwealth Criminal Code;
- relevant case law; and
- challenges to policing and regulation.
This webinar will assist legal practitioners involved in the prosecution and defence of online or digital offences.
