Level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
Ideal for preparing for travel or work commitments, you will learn the basics of the language and build upon German 101. This course focuses on topics such as: office technology, leisure time activities, German food and travel. Grammatical elements including verb conjugations and nouns declensions are also introduced as you start to learn basic speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.
Outcomes
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
- engage in simple work-related phone conversations, plus write simple text messages and emails
- make arrangements to meet friends
- talk about hobbies and leisure time activities
- state the time of day and day of the week
- make statements about food preferences
- read food and drink menus at restaurants, and follow recipes
- follow public transport announcements at train stations and airports
- construct simple sentences using modal, irregular and separable verbs
- construct and use noun plurals
- construct and use the accusative case.

Intended audience
Suitable for A1 level students, those who have completed German 101, or who have completed 20 hours of recent tuition.
Delivery style
Delivered as a series of interactive sessions where active participation is encouraged. Each session is conducted in a friendly and relaxed classroom environment.
